The opal cutting process
Cutting quality opal in the workshop will always be my happy place.

Rough Opal
Opal miners bring rough opal to my workshop and we agree on a parcel price of rough opal. I only buy from fields we know to produced stable opal safe for jewellery quality.

Opal Prepping
Examining the opal before using the grindstone to reveal its best colour and shape. We attach the opal onto a dop stick for shaping and polishing.

Shaping and Polishing
We next shape the stone and go through a series of finer cutting wheels to achieve a pre-polish. Lastly we use sirium oxide and leather wheel to achieve a mirror polish.
